There are several good apps like this out there & this is possibly the best, or one of the best available to date. I tried it though I own others that do very close to this.įor a decent price, you are getting features for which other similar apps charge extra. Out of the box, there are several useful default choices, but you can customize your own. You can indicate configurable drop zones, small hotspots on your desktop into which you drag open windows & BetterSnap places them exactly where you want them & what size. You can set those drop zones up for only certain apps, so that they aren’t getting in your way when another application is active. Other apps have done this, Cinch for example, & may have been the basis of a similar feature MS put into into Windows 7.īetterSnap is worth a try & its worth a buck or two to the developer for a job well done, even if you conclude its not for you at the end of it all. Similar to Jared's workaround, if you use HyperDock or BetterSnapTool, you can maximize windows by dragging them to the top edge of the screen. The drop zones work & are reasonably unobtrusive, still there’s a tiny bit more work to do there. It doesn't black out whatever's behind Quicktime, but if you're willing to set the desktop on the second display to black and center the QT window horizontally, it's visually indistinguishable from the. App Store (9.99) In addition to some other fluff (like window previews): HyperDock brings advanced window management features to Mac OS: Move & resize windows just by holding down keys and moving your mouse. I’m not sure about its stability yet, as I’ve seen a few odd minor glitches after installing this, but can’t say that its tied to BetterSnap.
